I have a Dell M4600 that has a docking station with 3 display ports (1 VGA, 2 DVI). I installed fedora 17 on the laptop and it works great.
The problem I am having is when I dock my laptop and boot it, the system does not notice its docked and the laptop screen (even while closed) remains the main display.
I have a laptop with a docking station that has a large monitor connected to it. When the laptop is docked, I use the monitor as my primary display, and the laptop screen as a secondary display.
When I undock, the laptop screen becomes my primary display, and all the windows move over to it.
I've recently installed 11.2 and find that today docking the laptop for the first time doesn't automatically enable the external monitor. I was expecting the external monitor to be enabled and the laptop screen to be disabled as the lid is closed anyway, i.e. the video to be switched to the external monitor when docked.
Hi!
I'm running OS11.2 w/KDE 4.3.4 on a Dell Latitude D820 laptop. Graphiccard: Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M
Laptop is docked in a docking-station(D-dock) and to dockingstation i have connected an external 22" LCD-screen.
I use Nvidia-settings to configure TwinView and define the external screen to be the primary.

I have a Dell Latitude E6510, which I'm trying to use like a desktop with an external monitor plugged in and the lid closed down.
When I boot Fedora 17 with kernel 3.3.4-5.fc17.x86_64, the system boots fine and eventually I get a login prompt on the laptop screen and the reset of the art work shows on up the external monitor.
hi. i've just installed fedora 18 (default options) on an acer aspire 5735 laptop. i use an external monitor with this laptop so the sequence of events when turning it on are as follows :
open laptop
press power button
close laptop
as the laptop boots i see the grub menu and the luks password prompt on the external monitor.
Hi,
Apologies if this is somehow covered elsewhere. I've done a good bit of searching to no avail.
I'm running 2 monitors from a fresh install of F17 on my Dell Latitude D410.
Monitor 1: the laptop's LCD screen - detected, all fine and dandy.
Monitor 2: an external flatscreen monitor.
Hello all.
I just installed the XFCE version of fedora and while it mostly works, there are a few issues that get in the way. As a bit of background, I am running this on a Toshiba Satellite L775. The actual laptop is connected to a 20" external screen positioned below the laptop. I use this external screen as my primary screen (while at home).
