Fedora 17 64-bit boot failure on Lenovo

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I just tried installing the 64bit Fedora 17 on a Lenovo V570 from the live cd (live cd boots up fine). Install goes fine with no errors and it's a clean install with no dual boot. When the computer restarts it gives a "media test failure" and does not boot. I haven't found anything on this issue with Fedora in searching so far but Ubuntu users have had the same issue and it came from issues with the boot loader in the 64-bit distro (32-bit distro worked for them).So I tried installing 32-bit fedora and it works fine. A fix that worked with the Ubuntu users for the 64-bit was using S (HowTos)

fedora 12 live-usb won't boot 3 years 24 weeks ago

hi, i got the 64 bit version of fedora 12 on a live-usb but it wont boot my hp elitebook 6930p (grub wont load; the pc goes directly to win-xp). fedora 11 live-usb boots up fine on it.

i tested the fedora-12 usb on an older acer extensa 4620z and it boots fine.

did they do something different with the boot loader/ grub that makes it incompatible on some pc's ?

First of all I'm new to Fedora / Linux in geneneral but I am eager to learn.

I am trying to install Fedora 18 on my machine but keep running into issues. I've browsed a for solutions but could not find quite what I was looking for ...

My end goal was to dual boot fedora 18 / window 7.

I downloaded F18 from the website and made a live CD.

I'm trying to boot Fedora 17 from a USB, I tried both the DVD version and the one on the main page. I've used: Linux Live USB Creator, Live USB Creator (Fedora-one), and Unetbooting. I also tried after clicking "a" and Code: root=live:CDLABEL=LIVE if=/home/per/Fedora-17-x86_64-DVD.iso of=/dev/sdb Everything failed. Fedora just don't want to install no matter what I'm trying.

I just installed Fedora 17 64 bit. I partitioned my main drive (which houses win 7) while using the live boot from a USB. The install went fine. However, now my PC just insta-boots to win 7 with no option to boot to Fedora. What did I do wrong?

Note: I am a linux noobie looking for experience as I am a CS major. I chose to start my journey with Fedora.

I recently tried to install Ubuntu on my new Lenovo V570, planning to dual boot 11.10 with Windows 7. I realized after installing that it would boot straight into Windows, so I looked up the issue. I read something about UEFI, and found a page suggesting that I wipe the drive with GParted, installing a msdos partition table, and then install Ubuntu.

I'm trying to dual-boot Fedora 17 and Windows XP. I installed Fedora from the live-cd with no problem onto a second hard drive, and put GRUB2 on the first drive so it's the boot loader.

When I try to boot Fedora I get a "Cannot open file font True" message and it stops booting. I looked around and found that the error should only delay the booting, and found how to fix it.

hey all, i loaded Fedora 10 onto my Lenovo T60 last week. everyday i boot it up and it works fine for a few minutes, then freezes. to the point of powering off. my mouse still works but nothing else. i power back up and it generally stays up after that.

Hi,

I have a dual boot computer (Ubuntu 11.10 or 11.04 / Win7). Everything was working fine until yesterday when it froze while I was under Win7, after that I can't boot the computer anymore and it keeps restarting. The restart occurs right before the when the grub should start (I can't see the grub at all).

I've tried to boot from Ubuntu live CD, but that doesn't also work.
