Fedora 11 extremely slow.

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – With time, about two months, Fedora 11 became extremely slow. Working with applications is a complete hog with some applications taking 20 seconds to load. I checked and there is nothing that eats cpu% or lack of memory or zombie processes. It seems just to be FC-11 as slow. If you press enter in a terminal it takes about 3/4 of a second to scroll down ! The latter clearly show serious problems. Nouse and keyboard response is normal. System: ppc Mac Mini 1.6GHz. Linux version 2.6.30.9-90.fc11.ppc ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.1 20090725 (Red Hat 4.4.1-2) (GCC) ) #1 Sat Oct 17 11:12:08 EDT 2009 It is not a swap issue as swap partition works ]$ cat /proc/swaps Filename Type Size Used Priority /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol01 partition 2031608 5240 -1 While this is so slow the load average is ]$ cat loadavg 0.10 0.10 0.16 2/264 6910 which is basically idle. All my rackservers run fedora and I try to standardize on mac terminals using fedora. All the other terminals with mac-mini running fc-10 are ok. This seems to be an FC-11 thing or maybe someone knows about something I overlooked? I obviously do not want to upgrade to FC12 just to find that that is also extremely slow and need to know if Fc11/12 are too slow for 1.6GHz cpu's with 2GB ram. Ubuntu ran very fast compared to FC, but i will be too time consuming to run different distros, so I want to try solve this first. (HowTos)
