I've installed a tv card but I can't hear the sound through my built-in CMedia soundcard when I watch tv with TVTime. The tv card's audio output is externally connected to my soundcard's line in input. In the 'Input' tab of the 'Sound Preferences' dialog, I can see the input level meter moving.
I have Audacity installed and am trying to record music from a web site FM station which I have done many times preciously. But now after installing ubuntu 12.10 something has changed in the pulseaudio tabbed options.

Hi. I am unable to record streaming audio, using audacity and 12.04. I have done so in the past but just today it stopped.
The problem appears to be that in the sound control, by way of inputs, all I have is iec-958-stereo-unput. This does not allow me to select my sound card.
I have tried using alsamixer under from the terminal with no success.
Most grateful for any assistance.

Hi I've just spent the last two days trying to get my SB LIVE Platinum to record direct (internal) using Audacity on Ubuntu 8.04. It plays perfectly but records only with very low volume and no record on mice. I've had it with hit 'n' miss on Alsamixer! (Using alsamixer with pulse disaster killed). No problem recording on WinXP.
I need some help figuring out how to route some audio around in specific ways when doing a recording.
The software I'm using is Audacity and LMMS.
I have a track in Audacity. I want to play that track while playing something else in LMMS.
Hello,
With a click of the record button in Audacity, I can record all the sounds that enter my microphone (my voice). But Audacity is not recording the other person's voice (earphone/headphone). How can I make that happen?
I used to be able to record audio using my Turtle Beach X31's (gaming headset and mic) with a 1/8" female to 3/32" male adapter connected to my mic input port (pink) and use audacity to record my voice without and static at all.
A few days ago I had to replace my mouse and since then I can't 'record' in Audacity (but it plays files) - probably due to the old mouse being clicked everywhere in desperation. I've been through Pulse / Alsa and Audacity (Edit/ Preferences / etc etc, ) also the Audacity pages many many times trying to reconfigure but without success.
Any suggestions ?
