I have configured and built linux kernel 2.6.27 successfully, with module supported enabled. But when I am trying to build another program (kernel module) that needs include/linux/modversions.h, it cannot find the file.
my question is: besides enabling the module support in linux kernel config, is there anything else I need to do to generate/get the modversions.h?
Thanks.
When I update to the latest kernel in OS 11.1, I receive, as part of the total messages:
------------------------------------------------

my os is centos
kernel is 2.6.18-92.1.17.el5xen.
fuse version is fuse-2.7.4
I compiled it like this:
./configure --enable-kernel-module --with-kernel=/usr/src/linux
make && make install
then "modprobe fuse",but it warned like this:
FATAL: Error inserting fuse (/lib/modules/2.6.18-92.1.17.el5xen/kernel/fs/fuse/fuse.ko): Operation not permitted
but I did it as root.

I have 2 ubuntu server running the same version 12.0.4 LTS
On one of them I can run sudo modprobe fuse normally on the other this gives back the error

Hello,
I am using openSuSE 11.2 on a VGN-AR41L. I have also erased the preinstalled Home Vista (what a pleasure). Now to my problem. My system boots correctly but if I press the <ESC> key while booting I can see the following messages:
"Doing fast boot
FATAL: mbcache module not found
FATAL: ahci module not found
"
Just for this card ALPHA AWUS048NH for better injection with Airmon-ng suite and following the instructions in there I cannot install the driver.
