Faster reboots with kexec

view story

http://crunchbang.org – You can use the following command to reboot the current kernel using kexec:/sbin/kexec /boot/vmlinuz-`uname -r` --reuse-cmdline --initrd=/boot/initrd.img-`uname -r`Note that it will fail without root privileges, which is unfortunate.  I added a button to my custom cb-exit python script to use this command and set SUID on kexec. (HowTos)
