8o Hello to everyone,I know this is really stupid, but I really do need some help with my problem. I read most of the threads here with the same issue but it seems that some steps in fixing this problem are specific on what type of pc hardware, #! lite is installed. So it has failed to start the X server.
I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 and the installation went smoothly. At the desktop I went to try and browse firefox. It froze and I was forced to force shutdown. I return to my desktop and Ubuntu would show its logo and the screen went black. I had a wireless mouse in the usb port so I thought it was trying to read from there. I took out the device and forced quit again.
I noticed that my server was taking a few more seconds than usual to start up.
This is after I did a "shutdown -h 0" twice. Someone told me its bad to do it if the gui is up. I was logged in through ssh......But since my server was on run level 5, it was at the GUI login screen at the console. Is it bad to do shutdown -h while kde is up?
I had a similar solution in the past. For "normal" internet traffic I was using eth0 and if it failed I was switching to secondary provider connected to eth1.I've cr... [by keddie]
Hi,
I want, in my opensuse 11.3, to make an ftp server but being a beginner :D I have a little tiny problem:
I installed yast2-ftp-server and vsftpd but when I try to start it:
#rcvsftpd start
Starting vsftpd startproc: exit status of parent of /usr/sbin/vsftpd: 1 failed

I then tried to start cups manually:
Code:
/etc/init.d/cups.dpkg-new start
And Got:
hi,
we have eth1; in the beginning it was proposed to create from eth1, eth1.2500 and eth1.240. It did not worked cause vlan 1.2500 was not tagged in the switch.
so they decided to leave eth1 like a physical interface with eth1.2500 config (removel vlan tag) and create eth1.240
but it did not work because when eth1.240 is up , the eth1 lose it´s gateway using eth1.240 gateway.

After upgrading from F15 to F16 with what I thought was a single, minor issue, I am slowly running into more issues, and more severe.
All of these issues seem to be the "default" after a reboot, and are all services that do not start:
- MySQL server service does not start at bootup.
