Facebook’s Pinteresque Collections feature began its second phase of testing today after debuting in October and disappearing 17 days later to be redesigned. As part of the test, 11 retailers are sharing product photos that users can Want, Save, Add, Collect or Wishlist, depending on the version of the test they see.
No so Pinteresting after all. Facebook began testing Collections on October 8th. But today I found that photos users collected had disappeared and so had posts with Collect or Want buttons . I asked Facebook and it confirmed that indeed, “the test is now complete”. Maybe no one got hooked on it. Maybe Facebook will try breaking into commerce discovery some other way.
I’ve never really been a fan of tapping a “Like” button on Facebook. Mostly because it doesn’t always mean that I like something. I use that button as a way to say “hey I looked at this and it meant something”, but maybe I use Facebook incorrectly.
