i have a Samsung Galaxy S2 x and when i tryed to shut off my phone it will black screen and vibrate but will not shut off completely shut off, the lights on the phone dont shut off ether... ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Title says all. When I choose shut down or hibernate if my computer has been on a while, it just goes to the log-in screen. If I choose the shut down option there, it does nothing. It only happens if I leave it on for a while. I do not have auto login enabled. I am running 11.10 ( with all the latest updates). I can shut down using the terminal. I am a Linux newbie, so please help. Thanks!
We have this open source application that has three (3) services. For the purpose of this question, let's call them A, B, and C.
Now, they have to be shut down in a specific order. That order would be A then B then C.
If B shuts down before A then we run into all kinds of problems. Same is true if C shuts down before B or A.
i've installed Linux Mint 13 LTS (XFCE) on this rig, and 99% work fine OOTB (WiFi, Dropbox, Skype, ...). even XFCE compositing works great.i only run into trouble when trying to launch OpenGL applications like Stellarium, Google Earth or glxgears.

Recently I installed openSUSE 11.2 (GNOME) on my HP DC7100 machine. I was very excited about it until shortly, when I started discovering the problems.
One of the more severe problems is that I can't shut down the system:
System:
PC: Dell Inspiron 530
CPU: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz × 2
RAM: 3GB
OS: Ubuntu 12.04 (32-bit)
GPU: EVGA nvidia GeForce 210
Dirver: 304.64
Direct Rendering: Yes
When running glxgears with gnome classic the window pops up but the gears do not display, the framerate is extremely slow:
glxgears
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh.
Good afternoon!!!
I have the following problem,
i've installed karmic koala, everything is ok! Excpet that when i shut down my pc, system "shuts down" but laptop still is on power! I have to shut it down by pressing power button for 3-4 seconds.
Any ideas?
All over the years I have always wondered why my Compiz animations on Gnome 2 are not as smooth as on my old Laptop running with Intel GMA 965. Maybe this is related to low frame rates. When I run glxgears (I know, it's no benchmark test) I get only values about 300 frames in 5 seconds:
$ glxgears
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh.
