the folder view from the filemanager resets itself.. I´m choosing the 'list view' and the next time i open the filemanager the big icons were present...
The filemanager in 12.04 allowed me to open a folder while the other files and folders remained in view. I found that to be really useful. The new filemanager works more like windows where the only way you can see the files in a folder is to click on the folder, replacing the view of the current directory with the contents of the clicked folder.
On Thunar if I change a view to icons, it is a global change. Can anyone suggest a method to write a custom action to fix the view in just the one folder and make it stay that way for just the one folder.
As we go back and forth switching views between folders that need a list view (large files) or ones that we would like icons, it gets a bit old. Doable, but old.
Folder Based settings allow each folder to have it's own zoom, and it's own view type (list view, icon view, compact view). While one global setting means there is only one zoom setting and one view setting and it will be used on all your folders.
At the heart of this, is the question are all folders the same. For me they clearly are not.
Most icon themes have a set of different sized icons that will be used for the same thing but change depending on the size of the icon being viewed. In nemo, if I want to change the icon of a file or folder, I can just go to properties, click on the icon, and choose a new icon.
This started a couple of weeks ago. I always view my folders sorted with most recently modified file on top, but now every time I restart my computer it resets every folder to be alphabetically sorted. It's more annoying than I expected - how can I fix this?
