Earlier I used Windows 7 and the modem used to work absolutely fine. Even when it disconnected it used to reconnect automatically without any trouble. But then I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on dual boot and set up the modem connection properly but the modem now disconnects much more frequently(eariler it disconnected once in 5 hours or so and after ubuntu in 5 minutes!!).
Heres what I have:
Dell E6420 XFR notebook with the Dell DW5800 4G/LTE with GPS modem.
The Modem is AKA Novatel E362 or Gobi 4000 I think.
I've spent 3 days trying to get the modem to work and I have finaly got it working, I am posting this over the Verizon broadband modem and I did a speed test and got 7mbps inbound and 1.6mbps out.
I'm using the native Modem manager in Ubuntu 12.04 Lts d
The problem I am having is this. I have a Huawei E173 broadband modem I use for Internet. It is set up with Network Manager, and was working OK.
Now, if I disconnect (or get disconnected), I can't reconnect. It fails straight away. The only way is to pull out the USB dongle, wait a moment and reconnect it.
I have Ubuntu 12.04 and a 4G mobile broadband-modem called, ZTE mf880 ltf usb modem. Every time I loose internet-connection, Ubuntu seem to "loose track" of the modem and I have to pull it out and put it back in again, only to wait for Ubuntu to detect it again.
Hello.
I'm currently using Fedora 17 and trying to connect to a 3G network using a ZTE USB Modem.
The modem worked very well in a previous Fedora 16 installation and still does on Windows.
Hello,
I have a Thinkpad X61 with a built-in SIM card slot for mobile broadband. My Australian SIM card (Telstra) is always recognized, but now I'm in Switzerland and want to use another prepaid card (from Sunrise). The card works in my mobile phone, but when I put it into the notebook, I don't get any Mobile Broadband options in NetworkManager.
I am using Ubuntu very recently. My DSL connection with the modem is working fine but after certain idle time the modem connection is getting disconnected and I am not getting the icons to reconnect. If I go to System Settings--> Network, it is showing "Network cable is unplugged". It works fine if i reboot. This is a sudden problem and no configuration has been altered.
Hi all,I just purchased an Huawei E586E 3G Modem but I've had no success in getting it to work under Arch / Linux (works fine in Windows though). I have followed the wiki and ensured all the necessary packages are installed (ppp, usb_modeswitch etc).
