Hello, I ve installed ubuntu 12.04.1 on my pc,
(athlon xp 2200 - ATI Radeon 9800)
and when I go to YouTube with Firefox, the videos won't play...
they load, but all I get is a black screen.
The same happens when I navigate facebook, the embedded videos won't play.
the flash player plugin is installed, and also shockwave flash...
what could be wrong?

When I installed 12.04 I also added Ubuntu-restricted-extras. I decided to try accessing flash content in Firefox without the Adobe plugin, and I wanted to experiment with streaming video directly with VLC, so I removed flashplugin-installer.
It started a few days ago, around Feb 14.
I'm running Firefox on Ubuntu, Lucid Lynx, with Shockwave Flash (flash player) 11.2 r202 which was just updated on Feb 15.
Just about that time I noticed that some of the videos on youtube.com won't play, the video play object says "This video is currently unavailable".
Then after a while, more and more until all videos on youtube.com wo

I reply to myself but I have found the flash video replacer extension to firefox. It is able to launch an external player for flash videos on main site that use flash to play video (youtube, etc...). It works great for these websites and allow me to see high quality mp4 video on youtube with my 5 years old computers using mplayer.

No such problems are present when using Chromium. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox.
I have a shared folder on Ubuntu Server 12.04. Users drop videos in.
As discussed in a separate question, embedded flash videos are abnormally heavy on GPU resources.
