I just decided to delete my Windows partition and only use Linux.
My old partition table was:
sda1: W7 boot partition
sda2: W7 partition
sda3: Linux
sda4: start of logic partitions
sda5: swap.
I deleted sda1 and sda2, and then expanded sda3.
I ran:sudo sfdisk -uS -l /dev/sdaOutput:Disk /dev/sda: 38913 cylinders, 255 heads, 63 sectors/track
Warning: extended partition does not start at a cylinder boundary.
DOS and Linux will interpret the contents differently.
Units = sectors of 512 bytes, counting from 0
Device Boot Start End #sectors Id System
/dev/sda1 * 63 102062079 102062017 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 1020

Hello,
I have a failed primary ( /dev/sda ) boot drive. I am running in a mirror raid
/dev/sda and /dev/sbc
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdc1 1 45 358400 fd Linux raid autodetect
/dev/sdc2 46 108 506047+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
I have a disk, say /dev/sda.
hi
i am new to open SUSE 11.1.can anyone help me to figure it out?
Code:
linux-w0sv:~/Desktop # fdisk -l
WARNING: GPT (GUID Partition Table) detected on '/dev/sda'! The util fdisk doesn't support GPT. Use GNU Parted.
Warning: ignoring extra data in partition table 5 <<<--what short of warning it is?--->>
I have an embeded system which I finally got stable by doing multiple partitions like so:
Disk /dev/sda: 4017 MB, 4017807360 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 488 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x0000e4b5
Device Boot Start End
Sorry for the dupe post -- got no traction in Hardware & Laptops, so I thought maybe that was the wrong place.
I have a new laptop, windows pre-installed (of course they used the whole partition table, so I had to figure out which ones I could delete, grr). Anyway I repartitioned it before finding out about the 4096 blocksize issue.
