Hi gang,
Trying to install SUSE on a perfectly working PC that was running Windows. Blew away all the partitions and formated the drives.
When trying to install SUSE, Installer will not detect my two hard disks. Tried with version 10.x, 11.1 and 11.2, without success.
I was installing 9.04-server on a couple of Supermicro 6016T-NTF machines yesterday and tried to do a very standard RAID-1 mirror of the two drives I put in the box. Everything seems to work as far as booting and running but the "drive fail" LED blinks red on the second drive (in SATA port order) immediately after the kernel starts booting (fine during grub or booting off CD).
I have a small PC booting CentOS 5.8 with kernel 2.6.18-164 from a CF card on a CF to SATA adapter. Boot time on this machine is cca 2 minutes, but with an updated kernel to 3.x it drops down to 80 secs. What is more, according to tests, it has 10 times bigger data rate transfer with this newer kernel!
I think that this is because of an older version of driver which handles SATA to CF adapter.
The motherboard

has BIOS that lets you set the function of various SATA controllers to be "Native IDE" "RAID" or "AHCI" (Advanced Hardware Controller Interface).

Hello, I've just bought ExpressCard SATA Controller adapter which contains Marvell chip. I'm trying to get this working, but without success. It won't detect any disk, sometimes device itself isn't detected. I was searching for answers on google, but nothing can be found. The only interesting thing was something like "ahci.marvell_enable=1", but it has no effect.
