I have very slow LAN transfer speeds over WiFi to my Windows 7 shared folders.
Using AndroidSMB client, I get a max of 500KB/s yet on WIFI WAN I get speed tests in the 30Mbit/s range.
I have an laptop running 12.04 Ubuntu, which is acting as a dedicated NAS. I store all my photo and videos on it etc
I use Samba and smb.conf to share to other devices. I can access it and transfer photos etc from my phone and a windows 7 netbook.
I have been experiencing an ongoing problem with my ubuntu install that is driving me crazy. I have a few external usb hard drives hooked up to my PC that are getting very slow transfer speeds. At one point I had windows xp installed on this same PC and my transfer speeds were fine, so I know its not a hardware problem.
I have a Desktop which runs on Windows XP and a laptop which runs in Ubuntu 12.04. Recently I have set up a wireless router in order to be able to access internet on my laptop through wifi. The laptop connects to the wifi at ease, but is unable to transfer any data.
I've been trying (and failing) all weekend to get my homeserver connected via Wifi (I know it should be cabled, but a house move is imminent ;-).
I've setup a server which I've connected to multiple PCs in my workplace. Sadly, data transfer speeds are at max 3 MB/sec per connection which works out slow for file transfers, especially when transferring large files. I'm using Windows filesharing and the server is a Windows Server 2008 (2 Ghz CPU, 1 GB RAM) and the client PCs mostly running Windows 7.
i know this question has been asked a million times, but it seems everyone is having separate problems, I've read through a bunch of "slow wifi problems" but didnt want to jump into the terminal and start entering random codes
So, im running Ubuntu 11.10 along windows 7, on a dell 1647 with a Netgear n600 wireless, and as you have guessed, the wifi is running at extremely slow speeds.

My setup is this:

Hello. Please help to a new Ubuntu user.
Running 10.04 LTS x64 on Acer Aspire 5720z as the only OS.
Everything worked just wonderful before the recent updates.
After rebooting I stopped being able to browse web or use Skype.
I have a wired connection, via splitter (Netgear 5-port 10\100 fast ethernet switch). Same cable works fine on another laptop with WinXP.
