How can I make a correct /etc/network/interfaces for the following ifconfig output:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:23:54:7e:2e:b6
UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:1
I have problem in my Ethernet after upgrade kernel to Quasar8000 2.6.30.8-67.eeepc.fc11.
I can not connect to the Internet or open any site with the knowledge that everything is working well and the Ethernet adapter see the connection.
the output for ifconfig is:
Code:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:23:54:81:6D:33
1- I just installed Fedora 12 on my Gateway laptop. It picked up my ethernet card w/o any problems, but it failed to pick up my wireless card. Below i cut and pasted the output of 'ifconfig -a", can someone help please. When you give instructions, please remember that i am new with all this.
[root@irvine etc]# ifconfig -a
Im new to virtualization and for the life of me cannot figure out how to get around this.
I cannot connect to the wireless network at work, athough I have no problems at home. I have connected to WEP networks before, and my wireless functions perfectly well (using Broadcom STA proprietry driver) in most situations.
I wonder if "Interrupt" affects internet connection.
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 60:eb:69:6c:55:83
UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)
Interrupt:45
I see dropped packets using ifconfig on my eth0 interface:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:15:17:0d:03:ca
inet addr:10.0.1.2 Bcast:10.0.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

TX packets:133076885 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
1I need to use several IPs on interface in Linux, and switch it, but it's not working.
for example:
# ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 90:2b:34:33:80:65
inet addr:192.168.1.1 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
inet6 addr: fe80::922b:34ff:fe33:8065/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:13220652 erro
How to view the DNS address assigned by DHCP?
ifconfig can not show it.
$ ifconfig -a
