An external storage device can be connected to different Linux or Unix machines, and I guess its mounting point may be different?
If yes, will symlinks that are stored on the device and link to files on the device become invalid when connecting the device to different *nix machines, because the mounting directory for the device changes?
So I have an Xubuntu 12.04 install using dual monitors. Everything works just fine except for this odd bug. When using dual or single screen about 1/3 of the screen is unusable for a terminal window. When I try to drag a terminal window over to the right 3rd of the screen it appears to go under something. There are no windows there, just the background.
I just installed the i3 windows manager. When i hit Mod1 + Enter a window comes up like i would expect but its not a terminal window (which is what i expected). Its complete blank and i can't interact with it in any way (other than the menu at the top of the window). I tried the same thing with ubuntu and when i open up new windows in i3 they are terminal windows.
