i have a question.
how can i extend an LVM partition on Linux REDHAT 6.2?
i preferred to use GUI, but if anyone suggest any CLI solution, i can use that too.
I have one VG on single PV /dev/sda3 with two LV
Physically after /dev/sda3 i have 40G unallocated
I want to extend /dev/sda3 + 40G and extend its VG, then extend last LV in VG to take new free space
What is correct procedure?
// I cannot create second PV after /dev/sda3 because of patition number limit
I need to extend the root (/) partition of a RHEL linux. I know I can do this without too much difficulty by booting in rescue mode. The problem is : the RHEL is a virtual machine running in vSphere ESXi 5.1 environment. I thought I could easily mount a image of the installation cd in the virtual CD/DVD drive and boot in rescue mode from there, but I can't get it to boot from the cd.
I have a 4TB hard drive, a parition /dev/sdb1 is already created on here with ext4 with data. The remaining part is unpartitioned space. I want to extend /dv/sdb1 to occupy remaining of the HD without data loss. Is this possible? I tried parted, resize2f so far.
I want a single 4TB parition.
linux flavor is centos.
