Everything I'm seeing on amazon is for the gsm model I'm getting the CDMA any extended batteries for the CDMA?

So when the merge is complete and the cdma gets shut down does that mean I can't switch the Galaxy s3 to cdma(3g) when I want to save battery and the signal would be stuck on LTE??
All previous answers to this question date back to 2013 when Ubuntu Touch was in the making.
It's now 2015, are there any news about CDMA connectivity? I am in China and would need to connect to both GSM and CDMA, i.e. two SIM cards.
E.g., Meizu MX3 and MX4 are supposed to be able to run Ubuntu, also the CDMA versions?
