I have been having trouble with firefox3.5 on my x86_64 FC11 install for a month now...firefox freezes my pc. So I used yum to remove firefox. Now I'm wondering if I could just use another rpm for firefox...could I use the 32 bit version safely? I found the rpm and started doing a local install with yum but it wants these dependencies:
I have the newest kernel and I'm going to install the debuginfo package for it. But I failed to find the debuginfo.
Is there a way to disable per-package updates? I love Clementine, but the 1.1 version removed a crucial feature. I'd like to stick with the 1.0 version installed via a downloaded .deb package.
Can I somehow disable updates for it, or do I have to check the update manager every time? The updated version is in the base sources of Ubuntu, so I can't just remove a PPA.
Fedora 17 appears to have 2 broken packages in it - according to Synaptic Package Manager. I've sourced Fedora 17 from a Linux Format live DVD (LXF 160) - and found the broken packages when I couldn't get LibreOffice 3.5.7 to function.
just did a fresh install of fedora 18 and my internet is working fine but software updates has been stuck on getting info for over 40min .
i formatted and reinstalled and same problem
can anyone confirm the update server is offline ?
if not why would updates work last night and not now ?

First time Fedora user. I thought I would share my initial experiences with the distro (32-bit):
- burned a copy of the LiveCD to a DVD
- rebooted PC with DVD in drive (Hp dvd writer dvd630) and received the following error (after about a third of the way loading the Fedora milk filling nipple progress indicator):
boot has failed, sleeping forever

yum install wine
