executing java sometimes freezes

http://askubuntu.com – I was desperately trying to get tomcat running, but sometimes it just stopped responding. A couple of hours later, i just typed in java -version and about one of ten times it stucked too. $ java -version java version "1.7.0_09" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea7 2.3.3) (7u9-2.3.3-0ubuntu1~12.04.1) OpenJDK Client VM (build 23.2-b09, mixed mode, sharing) I have no idea, why this sometimes works and sometimes just stuck (without any error or output). I can still suspend (Ctrl+Z) the java process, but cannot stop it with (Ctrl+C). I use Ubuntu 12.04 and installed the openjdk-7-jre-headless (HowTos)
