http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I need to know if anyone has successfully gotten sound to work using the EVGA-GeForce GT 520 video card connected with HDMI to an hd tv on any flavor of linux on any desktop. It matters not what flavor of linux you used. I just want to know if it works for someone. If so I'll give it another shot but for now I don't think the sound is working in Linux for this card. I would ask nvidia's forums/support but they are down for maintenance. Basically I was trying to set up a machine to use MythTv and I was hoping to use HDMI to play back video I recorded. I never got to the MythTv set up beca (HowTos)

I am having some problems getting sound to work over the HDMI interface on my laptop. I have tried going to System/Preferences/Sound to try and change the settings to HDMI but there are no HDMI options to choose from. How do I find out if HDMI sound is supported by the nvidia drivers I am using? I had a look at this thread;

I have an F17 machine with an Intel Ivy Bridge CPU w/embedded Intel HD4000 GPU.

When I plug my HDMI into a TV the video works great but I get no sound.

Ive got a strange problem here. I have a video card running with hdmi and it's plugged into my tv. The sound works fine when I first boot up. But when I turn the tv off and back on, the hdmi sound no longer works and is not an option in the sound menu. It won't work unless I reboot. Any ideas on keeping it on regardless of whether or not the tv gets turned off?

I'd like to use my Geforce 9800GT's HDMI audio as a separate sound device. I'm using Ubuntu 11.10.

First off, I'd like to say I checked high and low for any possible solutions, but alas, I found none.

I am currently unable to get sound out of my hdmi connected tv. I do get picture though. When I had 11.10, it came up in the sound settings and all I had to do was select it. Now when I connect it, HDMI is not even listed.

I'm using an acer 6920 with the nvidia geforce 9500m (512mb).

I have been struggling more than a week unable solving the sound problem via HDMI output.

On sound setting -> Output HDMI/DisplayPort disappears on "Play sound through"

I have another HD on this PC running Fedora 17 desktop 64bit. There is no problem on sound output via HDMI.

I just spent hours to configure the sound to work with HDMI. My last problem is, when I start playing sound the TV screen goes on and off, like when you change the resolution. When I stop playing sound, 3-5 seconds after, the same thing happen. I feel like everytime I play/stop the sound, the HDMI connection needs to be resetted.
