I recently installed TF2 and when I launch the game, it gives me a black screen but sound however still works. It will not even display the Valve intro unfortunately. Any ideas on how coul i solve this?
I did a Wubi "alongside install" from the Windows installer for Ubuntu Desktop 12.04 LTS. After install I get a black screen, when trying to boot Ubuntu.
I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my Laptop (Intel Dual Core/Nvidia Graphics).
I am able to boot from cd and I reach the purple screen (here)
But after this screen there is a black screen with a blinking cursor. I have seen all the similar topics but haven't solved it yet.

After a new installation of 12.10 on a Lenovo x120e and a restart the Unity shell won't launch.
Installation of 12.10 amd64 yesterday went well. I turned the computer off for the night and when I turned it on this morning I was presented with the login screen. When I enter the password the screen flashes black and returns to the login screen.
So for a long time i had windows xp but i wanted to install ubuntu so i burned with CDBurnerXP and when i go to other pc's its works but when i go to my older it doesnt.
It just shows a black screen with a dash on the top of left corner blinking.
I've tried burn it again and it didnt worked and my older pc doesnt accept usb as a boot.
What can i do?
PS: The pc that im trying to install is old.
OpenSuse 11.3 with nVidia drivers.
I have the screen working fine though it only runs in 1600x1200@75 using the nVidia driver (GTX260 card).
When I play a game in full screen mode all seems OK but when I exit the game then I just get the mouse pointer on a black screen.
Alright, I have looked everywhere for a solution to this. I have the JDK 6 installed at the moment, and for some reason that I can not explain, every time that I start Minecraft, the thing shows a black screen, and does not load. Is there any way that you guys know of that could potentially solve this?

Finished installing Ubuntu 10.10 in my XPS15, intel i5 4g ram, nvidia GT 420M graphics card,
problem is when i go to additional drivers, the driver listed (Nvidia accelerated graphics) when I install it and reboot it the computer starts on the terminal, no graphic interface.
