I'm going to Jamaica soon, and they offer free wi-fi at the hotel. I have a Samsung Galaxy Proclaim through Straight Talk, is there a way to send text (and maybe talk) while I'm out of the country if I have an app of some sort?

I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 x64.
The first thing I did was install Mumble (VOIP Client) to talk to my buddies while setting up my system and getting a game set up.
My push to talk key is F.
I noticed that if I do not have a window selected and hit F or any key for that matter a box appears in the bottom right hand corner filling

Wondering how every ones talk time is on the Nexus 4
I'm running CFX SR9, _motley b32 kernel, on the Wind network in Canada which is 1700Mhz.
I have had a few longer conversations on the phone and noticed that 1Hr talk time drains ~20% of the battery.
This is approximate, but that roughly works our to be about 5hours of talk time which is far short of the ~14hours tested.
I'm currently with T-mobile, and I can talk on the phone while surfing at the same time. When I run a speed test while talking I get about the same data rate up / down as I do when I'm not on the phone (about 2-3Mbs).
I tried this recently at an AT&T store on the One X, because I've heard rumors that AT&T is throttling users while they are on calls.

My brother gets crappy signal from T-Mobile and Sprint where he goes to college right now, so before he gets added to our T-Mobile family plan, he needs to get through another year of school with decent coverage and AT&T has good coverage there. I've found two reasonable AT&T MVNO's pricewise.
