Thanks to all who replied. It seems the TP-LINK TL-821N is popular. But can any of you who use it report that it is working well with an upgraded kernel? There are some recent posts on the forum that indicate problems starting with kernel 3.4:https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=143848https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=143937https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?i
Hi All,Responses to a recent post (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=144133) suggest that the TP-LINK TL-821N wireless usb adapter is popular. But there are also recent posts suggesting that there have been problems with it since kernel 3.4:https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=143848https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=143937https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=143
I have the aforementioned card and ever since kernel 2.6.33 it's worked excellent with the b43 driver, however as of this morning, upgrading to kernel 3.5 the driver loads just fine, no errors on dmesg but I get the wlan0 deauthenticating from by local choice (reason=3) every time I try to connect to a network...I'm using broadcom-wl for now, but i'm really interested in what broke
Hello,I have checked to make sure that ath9k_htc is loaded with lsmod but the adapter is showing no signs of life. I checked and the computer does recognize that is plugged in however it is not working as a wireless adapter and not showing up as wlan0 as it should.Any help is much appreciated.

I recently installed xfce4 with a wired connection and used the newly updated install cd ISO. After using the wired connection to install what I needed I went on to install what is needed for the wireless setup. I went with wpa_supplicant and networkmanager. I configured my wpa_supplicant.conf appropriately and installed the drivers needed for my atheros wireless adapter.
Did you ever solved it? I have the same adapter and it does not connect here too. I am not getting the "authenticating" messages though...

Thanks all. But, the issue with my machine is that I am not able to switch on the wireless adapter in my laptop. It is controlled using Fn+F2 (my laptop comes with a Fn key. using it with function keys F1....F12 activates several functions. Fn+F2 is for switching on the wireless adapter) .

If I put my laptop to sleep and reopened it at my friend's house, it doesn't attempt to establish a connection even though I have a profile in /etc/network.d for the wifi. This is known, related bug report here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/31037 ,
