Enterasys is hosting its 2013 North America Partner Conference this week in Ft. Myers, Fla., with seemingly one thing on its collective mind: its impending acquisition by Extreme Networks.
Extreme Networks (EXTR) kicked off its North America Partner Conference today in Summerlin, Nevada, where the temperature is expected to hit 110 degrees today. More than 220 former Enterasys and Extreme partners have gathered to see what the new company's plans are for its channel.

During Extreme Networks’ North America Partner Conference, VP of Global Channels Theresa Caragol discussed the company's initiatives as it works to create a partner-first ecosystem. Here’s what she had to say in a live blog (again, excuse abbreviated and incomplete sentences):
I do a fair amount of travel to partner conferences. Not as much as The VAR Guy, but a healthy amount nonetheless. And a goodly amount of that travel is to Las Vegas—a venue I have grown less fond of each time I go there, yet a location for more partner conferences than really should be allowed by law.
Red Hat (NYSE: RHT) and Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR) are running their annual channel partner conferences the same week (Jan. 14-16, 2013). Both conferences are on The VAR Guy’s list of Top 100 Channel Partner Events for 2013. So will The VAR Guy’s team attend the Red Hat or Juniper conference?
The goal: Attend both.
At Red Hat Partner Conference North America (Jan. 14-16, San Diego), watch for CEO Jim Whitehurst and Channel Chief Roger Egan to describe how the company’s growing portfolio of software (Linux, storage, virtualization, middleware and hybrid cloud management) empowers channel partners. The big question: Are partners ready to diversify into all those new areas with Red Hat (NYSE: RHT)?
