after a location change, when booting ubuntu-linux, only recieving 'emask' message ... can anyone help with booting info ?

i am getting following error in /var/log/message.
After noticing a high load on our virtual root server (2 x 1 TB RAID 1 Subset) I have found these messages in /var/log/messages (CentOS):

More often than not, on booting to Kubuntu 12.04.01, I get a pop-up message "An application has crashed, now or in the past". I dismiss the message and everything seems fine.
Hi,I have a new Thinkpad 420 with 80GB Intel SSD 310. I installed arch on this SSD.
I'm trying to run Ubuntu from a USB drive. When I boot the computer, I get a bunch of messages. The last message is something like
kernel panic not syncing attempted to kill init booting
I am using an MSI 970-43a motherboard.
Seeing some errors FPDMA READ failed errors during bootup also delay in Ubuntu bootup. Has the HDD gone bad and needs replacement. I noticed and on updating to Ubuntu 14.04, it worsens and laptop is not able to boot at all.
I have 5 disks on my system, one old 320GB PATA drive with Ubuntu installed and 4x 2TB disks set up as RAID+LVM.
