Ekiga: do any of the test numbers ever actually work?

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I've been working with Ekiga/VOIP for a couple weeks, and the "echo test" and similar test functions seldom work. In particular, none of these "fully tested" numbers work this evening: http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Fun_...Tested_Numbers Is Ekiga for real? Are they currently in the throes of some massive upgrade or total service outage? I can call 800 numbers just fine, so it would seem that my ap is configured correctly. (HowTos)

I've got a fedora16 running and I'd like to use ekiga as a softphone.

Now I'm running into some problems.

Starting ekiga as a normal user gives me

could not register (globally not acceptable)

So I was pretty stuck.

Now I tried running ekiga with sudo and it worked.

So I asume, that it is a problem with the rights-management about the network settings.

I'm trying to learn about SIP. The problem is that I'm at the point where I don't know enough to try it myself to learn and sometimes I don't know enough to know what question to ask.

It may happen that although your VoIP phone works fine, adding an Ekiga account to the phone is not that successful.
