I've just installed my laptop with a fresh Ubuntu 9.10. I've tried both 32bit and 64bit.
Just after the install, i log in, take a system update (about 120Mb), and reboot. Then i go system -> Administration -> Hardware Drivers, and install the Nvidia driver package. I've tried both the 173/185, and I've also downloaded and installed the newest 190 driver from the Nvidia site.
Hi everybody!
Couple of weeks ago tried to install the driver from official Nvidia site and it worked perfect with all the visual effects until first reboot and then i couldn't fix it so i switched to restricted drivers now.
Hi,
I saw there's a new driver from NVIDIA and install through the ppa method. Reboot my system and still can't seem to change my screen resolution.
I've a laptop with an Nvidia optimus graphic card (GEForce GT 630m) with Ubuntu 12.04 installed. After a while of looking around, I found that the optimus controller for linus is bumblebee, so I installed it.
I would like to know whether is possible to perform GPU calculations using this driver, or Should I install the Nvidia driver?
Hey Community,
I booted up today in the standard 'Ubuntu' environment and my Unity desktop is gone. The window effects are still working, but the side bar doesn't come up. When I log in to a 2D environment, the sidebar and windows behave well, but the compiz effects don't work.
I'm thinking there's an issue with the nVidia drivers.
İ'm using a HP Pavilion G6. Graphic card is HD6470M and switchable with HD4200. I have installed the proprietary driver in additional drivers. But graphic effects are very slow.
I also tried install up to date driver from ATI/AMD website but after restart system is not starting. Even if system starts don't work properly. So i removed the driver.
Now i am using the proprietary driver.
Jockey (hardware drivers) detect my NVIDIA driver and says it's activated and in use, however, changes to CCSM don't take effect.
I just installed hardy onto my Dell a few days ago, I've tried several methods to get my nVidia 8600 GTS to completely work with the GNOME display, but all attempts have failed. (I want my hardware acceleration for desktop effects and music visualizations) Initially when I installed Hardy, I selected to enable the restricted nvidia driver, and everything worked fine until I did a full reboot.
