My MSI laptop has 2 hard drives in it. My idea is to:
1. Remove hard drive #2,
2. Install new ssd,
3. Clone hard drive #1 to new ssd,
4. Replace hard drive #1 with new ssd,
5. Put hard drive #2 back in its original spot.
Will this work, and is this a good method? What cloning software is recommended? I have never cloned a hard drive before.
I am looking for a device of which I don't know how it should be called.
The current situation is that we provide computer services and often have to take disk images of hard disks before doing whatever we are going to do. We are using Acronis software for this (which works great) to make disk images to another hard disk (2TB).
Some HDD or computer problems can prevent your hard drive from being read properly. The inability to access a hard drive doesn't always indicate a malfunctioning drive so you might be able to fix the drive and recover important computer data upon an external hard drive enclosure. The hard drive enclosure is often a shell that you place your hard disk in.
I'm running Ubuntu 14.01 on a BeagleBone Black. I have a USB hard drive that auto mounts if I connect it after the computer have booted. I can then also see the USB hard drive under /dev/. But If I have the USB hard drive connected when the computer boots up then I can't see the hard drive under /dev/. Any suggestions what I can do to the fix the issue?
