Been using Ubuntu for five years, now struggling with a set-up of Edubuntu 12.04 with Gnome (installed from the iso). Able to create a limited user and group and link it to an edited menu from within Edubuntu menu editor and profile manager.
I am using Edubuntu LTSP for 5 sites in Guinea. I need to set up a LAN with an Edubuntu LTSP Server connected to 6 work stations on Thin Clients. (TC) These TC need to be able to write to and read from the server simultaneously as well as save data. Can this be done? Please advise with detailed step by step instructions I am new to Linux. Command line entries are daunting.

Hi all,
I have an XP lab that I would like to switch out to Edubuntu. One of the things I need to know that works is using Squid for caching and filtering websites.
Currently I can look in the squid logs and see the websites LAB01 (for instance) visited.
If I switch to Edubuntu, will the log still reflect this?
I have a mac mini lion server that has a student username on it. All around the school the kids use laptops that connect to a share based on what classroom the laptop came from. It works like this.
Laptop # 32 in room 400 will connect to the 400 share folder on startup by mapping the drive with a script.
This allows teachers to use their account and see what the students have been working on.
Hello,
I've just set up an LTSP server (11.04) and created an admin user account. I can log in with a thin client just fine. Everything seems to be working but but when I create a document, save a bookmark or make any changes, everything is wiped out when the client logs out.
Also when I try to use any of the admin tools (i.e.
My "real" name displayed under Settings > Account Details seems to be different from what is set at Settings > User Management. Under User Management, I have my full name, but under Account Details it says my name is "Student". Long story, but this is how I'm guessing it happened...
Is there any way that we can use a FTP account (specifically) an anonymous one, for access to a specific directory that all our clients documents will be located in.
Hi,
I have installed LTSP on my 10.10 and its working. My thin client now are starting nicely and I can see the login screen. But I do not have any login credentials for the machine. I tried checked on /etc/passwd for users but there are no users. How can I create users for my thin client?
Has any body tried to manage through it?
