Whenever I open a power point slide in ubuntu 12.04 it opens correctly in libre office but in addition to the libre office's app for slides another invisible icon appears for each presentation I open. It is visually very distracting. When I have the mouse over the icon it says something like "binary star office importer" or something like that.
Hello there!i think i cant really help you, because i have the same problem with some of my apps and it seem nearly impossible to find out where the icon tint uses is comming from.I wanted to change several icons showed in the taskbar and sometimes it was helpful to change the icon inside the .desktop-file, sometimes i replaced the icons in the icon folder of /usr/share/applications/DESIEREDAPP an
Hi,
In the Alt+Tab list of currently running app icons a hi-res version of an app icon is only displayed if the app has an associated .desktop file (which specifies the icon, say, "icon-name").

Whenever I open up a program from Libreoffice3.5, it will open in its own launcher icon. For example, if I click on my docked "Writer", it will open it up in another icon.
Here's a screenshot:
I've also noticed that these opened icons are very blurry in icon, too...Any one else have this problem or a solution?
This may appear "old" as a question, but I am not getting the point and I will stick to kde3.5 up to July or December of 2010, so time to "play".
I am not getting the logic of the kde3 icon system:
I installed my proper icon-sets and they do so in
/home/myusername/.kde/share/icons
I previously enabled the display of the Computer, Home, Trash, and Network Servers icons on the desktop on Ubuntu 12.04, probably using MyUnity. Today, I installed a custom icon set and after rebooting, all four icons disappear from the desktop. I switched back to the default icon set, all of this using MyUnity, and rebooted.
I've only installed two programs from AUR that would have icons, but neither of them use the icons that come with them. I've checked and the icons are installed in /usr/share/icons and the Icon tag is specified in /usr/share/applications/<program-name>.desktop. I'm using GNOME 3, and all I get is the default executable icon with these programs I have installed from the AUR.
