I just assembled a new computer with an Intel Core i7-2600K CPU and I am using the integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 graphics processor. I have an Asus P8Z68V-LE mother board that has a VGA, DVI and HDMI output. I have a Samsung monitor to the DVI port and an Acer monitor connected to the HDMI port.
This is a nice little article for setting up dual monitors.
Ubuntu Tips: How To Setup Dual Monitor
Does anyone know how to do this from the terminal?
I wanted to add a key detail that was neglected from the first article I read. This only matters if you are trying to watch videos.
I have just setup a dual monitor system with a 23 inch LED monitor and a 19 inch LCD monitor. The 23 inch one is connected through HDMI. The 19 inch one is connected to the analogue port of the same GPU (Nvidia Geforce 210).
In Ubuntu 12.10, after installing Nvidia drivers, the 23 inch monitor works fine but the 19 inch monitor got a very low resolution.

For some reason I cannot seem to connect three monitors to my system. My ATI Radeon HD 7770 card has four ports to connect monitors. 1 HDMI 1 Display Port and 2 DVI. Currently I have one monitor (flat screen) connected to the HDMI port with a HDMI to DVI adapter. I have DVI to VGA adapters for my other two monitors (CRTs).
I am trying to get a monitor work with my Ubuntu laptop. The monitor is this cheap 27" Korean monitors which has a 2560x1440 resolution -- and nothing else.
Hello!
I'm looking for a bit of help getting a 3 monitor set up using Ubuntu 11.04, I have a (64-bit) DELL Latitude e6420 - specs - The graphics card is an 'Intel® HD Graphics 3000'. I can use the VGA port to add an additional monitor, but I would like to add a further monitor.
I have an HDMI port, but adding a monitor on this doesn't work.
Need bit of help on this. I am using Linux mint 14 with xfce.
I have 2 monitors. LG and Samsung. One is attached to digital input and one to VGA input cable.
NVidia graphics card. The 2 monitors come up OK, and I see the Linux desktop on both of them just fine.
The problem is that they are duplicate of each others. Kinda' useless.
I have setup two monitors in my system. One is powered by the HDMI port and the other one is powered by the normal Analogue port of the same GPU (Nvidia Ge-force 210). I just setup twin display in Nvidia settings but can't see the cinnamon's panel on the second monitor. How to fix this?
