I recently tried to use EasyBCD to edit some things and apparently ended up corrupting it some how. I'm dual booting Windows 8 and Ubuntu.
Windows boot manager pops up, now, and says:
"Windows failed to start.
I have tried automatic partition, i Have did the partition myself but Ubuntu installs alright. But when i restart the computer it goes back to windows 8 and i Have tried easybcd
boot manager but it didn't work either.
well the story is kinda long, so I'm gonna give the link explaining my first problem...
How to install GRUB on the hard-disk?
Now, I read in some answers, forums, and more...
hey all,
Just bought an asus n76 and managed to kill the windows 7 install the same day!
there was a generous enough space on the 1st hdd (there are 2 x 1tb), but i forgot/failed to create a dedicated boot partition for linux and ended up writing linux boot partitition to windows boot partition.
obviously, windows would not boot with grub, but through the bios was able to boot into the windows
I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 by creating free space in Windows 8 and then using that space to create 3 partitions, one for SWAP, one for GRUB (mounting point is /boot) and one for the actual OS. I did this so the Windows 8 boot loader wouldn't be overwritten in case I ever wanted to remove Ubuntu.
I have a new HP laptop with Windows 8 pre-installed. To try Linux I downloaded Ubuntu 64 bit and burned it to a DVD.
I'm not technical. I installed ubuntu using your wubi installer. Pressed 'finish' to restart and the windows boot manager did NOT come up. It just rebooted in windows. How do I get to this windows boot manager so I can switch operating systems? Its XP bye the way. Help please.
I'm newbie here. Yesterday I decided to install Ubuntu 12.04 as I have already installed Windows 7 and want to go for dual boot. The problem is it doesn't shows me the boot menu. This is what I get:
Quote:
Error: no such partition
grub rescue>
First, I installed it manually and when I saw this message, I started searching for the solution.
Hello, I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 and I can't get back into windows (no such device / file not found when trying to load windows boot loader from grub)
I have an SSD(sdb) and 2 TB HDD(sda).
