Hi,
I want to dual boot Fedora 16 32 bit and Mint 12 32 bit. I have created 3 primary partitions, one for swap, one for Fedora 16 and one for Mint 12. I installed Fedora to sda1 and its Grub to the MBR. Then I installed Mint to sda3 and its Grub to sda3. Now when the pc boots, it does not show Mint on the boot menu and it only shows Fedora, why so? I think Mint 12 also uses Grub2, right?
I recently inherited an iMac from a friend and decided to put Ubuntu and mint on it...I first installed Ubuntu 12.04(replacing mac os x) and of course it installed grub2 with it, after doing an 'update-grub' I got the default grub2 menu when I booted, from this I had the options to boot to Memtest, ubuntu recovery, ubuntu, and the older kernals of ubuntu.
After installing Linux Mint, I could see
i love both ubuntu and openSUSE, So i tried to install them in one machine. in first attempt
i first installed openSUSE 12.2 and then installed ubuntu 12.04 alongside it in another partition. after this, i lose openSUSE boot splash.
i thought it is because ubuntu 12.04 uses grub 1.99 and openSUSE 12.2 uses grub 2 so in second attempt i installed again both of them.

hello all,
well , I made a real bonehead move today. I had pc set up to boot Mint, Ubuntu and win7. Ubuntu and Win7 on a SSD and Mint on seperate 1 TB HD , I also have a 2TB storage drive.
i have a problem, i have dual boot system with windows 7 and ubuntu. i decided to try out linux mint. but after a while i removed it by deleting it´s partition. when i restarted, the bootloader didn´t work anymore. i reinstalled linux mint so that i could use my pc again. but i really want to remove mint from my system. is there a way to delete mint and still be able to boot in to ubuntu ?
I have followed the excellent steps to install Linux Mint (as dual boot) on an HP Envy 14 ultrabook (1030us) as detailed by Raphink (Dual boot Installation of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on HP Ultrabook ENVY-4 1002TX) but am stuck!
I have gone through the installation procedure twice following all of Raphink's advice however my system will not boot into Linux Mint, or Win7, and all I see is a very primitive
linux mint failed to boot.
please help.
when i did separate my boot partition and install grub on it then it was run one or two times but now facing same problem " grub rescue" , " you need to load the kernel first"
etc.
i am new in linux mint please help to solve the prob.

Having been a Ubuntu user for a while, I switched to Mint 13 recently. All was well until I had to buy a new PC which had Windows 7 - 64bit installed.
It hasn't taken me long to realise how much I dislike it. So I thought I would dual boot using Mint 14 along side Windows 7. I used the Mint 14- 64 bit iso disc and got as far as the Linux Mint desktop. Everything worked great from the CD.
