In firefox, I receive the error message "<file>,could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder." every time I try to save to a folder outside the default firefox downloads folder. I receive this message even if I am owner of the folder and I explicitly have write permissions to that folder. I've even tried setting permissions 0777 with no luck.
Originally I had issues with my trash folder because often times I would want to batch delete and I would get complaints about the Trash reaching maximum capacity despite nothing being in there. Not sure what to do I deleted the folder from root and now I can't delete anything.
I find that somehow the Downloads directory in /home/user/ is deleted.
on using
$locate Downloads, it shows the existence of directory without any existence of files within.
now when i manually create directory named Downloads,
$ locate Downloads shows the directory as well as the files the original folder had.
also there is no hidden Downloads folder nor can i access the folder or its files
th
I have a storage partition with four folders on it named "All (universal)", "Windows", "Mac", and "Linux". In my "All (universal)" folder I have three folders, labeled "Pictures", "Documents" and "Videos". In my "Linux" folder I have a folder labeled "Downloads".
Hio, So I have a crontab delete of older files setup. This script works fine if I run them by each individual directory.
Problem is there are so many thousands of files and hundreds of directories and sub directories that I need to recursively have it go through and delete files by directory instead of doing the "\*\*\" method.
Good day Sir/Ma'am,
New android user here, i'm just wondering. How can i set the default location to where i save my downloads. It's my first time to save a photo from google chrome app and it went to downloads folder in my internal memory. How can i set it to be in my external memory?
Having successfully backed up two laptops, I turned to the main system and installed Deja Dup on that, and proceeded to backup my home folder( excluding various folders).
As I now wish to upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10, and then to 12.04 (following the route I took with the laptops) I want to save the backup folder to an 8G memory stick bought for the purpose.
Problem - the "Properties"
I noticed that most of my photos are missing....
So I went into my home folder and clicked File -> Restore Missing Files (I had kept a Deja Dup backup). It came up with a few files, but only ones from the Home directory itself, not the folders inside it. If I open Pictures -> Photos and click Restore Missing Files I get a file (actually a folder) called "2011".
So I just did a fresh net install of Fedora 18 and Cinnamon. Strange thing I noticed is that the only folder in my home directory (normal user) is Desktop. Note that the download location for Firefox is still "Downloads". Anyone else notice this?
