http://www.talkandroid.com – Earlier today we told you that a lucky XDA member received a Jelly Bean OTA update for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. You can download the test build and install it yourself, but you have to go back to stock (build IMM76K) to make it happen. Just follow the steps below. Make sure you’re running stock (If you’re not then you can use WugFresh’s Nexus Root Toolkit to restore/install stock) Unlock the device and install a custom recovery (Wugfresh’s Toolkit can do this as well) Flash the IMM76Q Package via the custom recovery Flash the JRO03O Package via the custom recover (IT news)

Could the Verizon Galaxy Nexus finally be getting its Jelly Bean update?

I have an unlocked and rooted Verizon Galaxy Nexus running 4.0.4 with Build # IMM76K. I'd like to get Jelly Bean on my phone. I found the following thread over at XDA but I'm a little confused.

Monday night, Google started pushing Android 4.2.2 (JDQ39) to various Nexus devices, but the Nexus 4 wasn’t one of them. We already posted download links and instructions for the takju Galaxy Nexus, yakju Galaxy Nexus, nakasi Nexus 7, and Nexus 10.

It looks like the Verizon Galaxy Nexus is finally getting some Jelly Bean love. Not only has Verizon posted the changelog on their site, but we received a few emails from readers saying they already got the update. The build is JR003O and has a file size of 146.6MB.

As many of you know by now, Adobe Flash isn’t supporting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but there is a solution and it’s very easy. There are actually two solutions depending on which device you have. For anyone running Jelly Bean on anything other than the Nexus 7, you can simply side load the APK and enable some plugins.

When is a Nexus not a Nexus? When you buy it from Verizon, evidently. It’s long been a gripe of Verizon Nexus owners that their pride and joy often receives the latest and greatest Android update months after the GSM variant.

Developers or others who enjoy flashing their phones have a nice new option available if they have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus smartphone. After starting the process of rolling out a Jelly Bean update to Verizon users earlier this week, the factory images are now available on the Google Developers site for download.

If you own a Verizon Galaxy Nexus (toro), and you’re looking for a good AOSP-based Jelly Bean ROM, then you might want to try Peter Alfonso’s Bugless Beast 4.1. It’s based on Android 4.1.1 and is as close to stock as it gets. For enhancements, he did include native tethering, Google Wallet, improved scrolling, louder audio output, and Chrome is the default browser.
