In Ubuntu, Linux Mint and any other distro that uses Nautilus as the file manager, when you double-click on an executable script, a popup window like this will appear to ask you to confirm your action:
If you think this feature is a waste of time like I do, here is how to disable it:

I just installed Codeblocks in my Raspberry. I built and run the hello world application and it works. But when I try to open the executable file(with double click) it does not do anything. Or better it does something in stdout but not in a terminal window. I want to open it in a new window. Maybe with the usage of GUI??
I use Lubuntu. I downloaded a .tar.bz2 of Sublime Text 2, and extracted it. When I double click the sublime_text executable, a window pops up with "This file is executable. Do you want to execute it?" message. How can I launch Sublime Text without that prompt?
When I'm using PCManFM, I sometimes do the following. I right-click in an empty place in ~/, and choose Make new... --> Empty File. I type some text in it, like 'blabalballabl', and then I save it, e.g., as test.
Now, I double-click this file. Leafpad won't open the file, but instead PCManFM will say that the file is executable. It then asks if I want to execute the file or not.

When I make double click on a file in nautilus it marks it with a pink color (see screenshot). Speed of double click is not important.

I tried setting Foxit reader for Windows as my default pdf viewer in ubuntu 11.10. When I try double-clicking a pdf file in Nautilus I get a file not found error. I can open foxit and drag a file onto the foxit window but I would like to be able simply to double-click a file like all other programs.
Has anyone set a wine program as the default program for any file?
Any ideas?
