http://crunchbanglinux.org – I've wanted to say this for a while: I don't like the updated login screen with the text box off-center. (SLIM)I remember it was the sparse login screen with the one basic tone and the text box in the middle that made me fall in love with #!. I was a bit sad to see it tinkered with. It was so clean and no-nonsense. It was like a fresh shower on a hot summer day.I'm not sure why the change was necessary at all, only that it seems to follow a trend that I've seen in Ubuntu previously.If there is any question or doubt about it, I'd love for the old-style login screen to b (HowTos)

I have the same issue as others (see Login returns to login screen [closed]).

When I arrived at the login screen, I enter my password, the screen goes black for one second, displaying some text, and then it returns me to a fresh login screen.

I can go to a console alt+f1 and login into my account on the command line.

Since Ubuntu 9.10, installing new login screen themes or changing the login window appearances is not as easy as before.

However, you simply cannot just press the print-screen button to take screenshot of the login screen in Ubuntu. To do so, you can use a workaround command to preview the login screen and take screenshot of it.

Hi All Login Screen still shows after login.Upgraded from 12.10 32Bit to 13.04 32Bit.I am able to use Unity & and other applications, but the login screen won't go away. I tried to change the wallpaper.Previously on 12.10, I had muliple Desktop environments, such as GnomeFallack, Gnome, KDE, XMBC Installed.

I have auto login enabled, and I just upgraded to 11.04. When I boot, I get a message saying that I don't have the hardware required to run Unity, so I should choose Ubuntu Classic at the login screen. The problem is that auto login bypasses the login screen, and I can't disable auto login via the normal route since I can't start xwindows.

My computer crashed earlier this evening, I think it was somewhat overheated and shut itself down. After this, I can no longer log into Ubuntu.

On my FC 17-65 XFCE Spin system with noveau video driver, the following problem has cropped up:

I boot and login as an ordinary user. The XFCE desktop appears. I click the mouse on something and the desktop vanishes. Instead of the desktop I see the printing from the last text boot screen. Usually the login screen reappears, but sometimes I just stay stalled on the text screen.

I am unable to get past the login screen. It won't accept passwords, the screen momentarily goes black, and then returns to the login screen.

I recently found out that you can use CTRL-ALT-F1 to switch from the login screen to the command line. My password works in that situation and I was able to enter terminal mode.

I typed in "startx" to see what would happen.

Hello, I am young on linux, After I updated Fedora 17 (With Gnome desktop) at login the screen or theme of login it is like old style, but after login it is normal perfect Gnome, also I searched on dconf-editor but I could not see any solution, can I change it to default. :) Thanks for guides.
