Yesterday evening I changed my password, using: Systems Settings >> User Accounts
But, this morning my new password is not accepted. In trying other solutions, I tried my old password which still allowed me to login.
Please can anyone give me reason why this happen, and how I can stop this happening?
Can someone tell me where the password policy control is?
There seems to be two places to change passwords:
from user>system settings>user accounts>click password field
and activities>applications>other>users and groups>user.properties
In the 'user accounts' option, the screen prompts with secure passwords - if the password is weak, it won't allow the password at all
I reset the password for sa for ms sql 2008 R2.
I can login using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio with the account sa with the new password.

We use OpenLDAP and Samba v3.
I have a Win2k3R2 DC with NIS. All is working well but its no longer synching the passwords for new accounts. When creating a new AD user, NIS does its thing and sends its Unix account to the synched linux server. It's doing everything its supposed to do but not the users password to the server (getent passwd returns the ABCD!efgh12345$67890 password for the new account).
I was playing around with "User accounts" and somehow set automatic login. Now, when I start my PC, it just has one button named as "login". Clicking that button, directly logs me in to my PC.
There is no music or no asking for password while logging in.
We're running a Win 2k3 R2 Standard 64-bit edition server. On this server we're running a fileserver and the ability to allow remote login to our network through vpn. We do not currently utilize a domain setup, all user accounts are local accounts on the server.
Each employee is given a unique account to login to the server.
