If you are a fan of Fedora then you absolutely need to check out this great directory of spins from the Fedora community. Fedora, for those unaware, is an open source spinoff from Redhat. Spins are different versions of Fedora offering various different sets of applications that differ from the main Fedora release but are based on the core.
Fedora 15 KDE is one of several officially-recognized Fedora Spins. The others are, in order of popularity, the LXDE, Xfce, Security, Electronic-Lab, Games, and Design-suite Spins. The KDE Spin sits atop the popularity list. The LXDE and Xfce Spins have been reviewed on this website. (See Fedora 15 LXDE review and Fedora 15 Xfce review.) [...]
Fedora 15 Xfce is a Fedora 15 Spin. In Fedoraland, a Spin is an alternate edition of Fedora, “tailored for various types of users via hand-picked application sets and other customizations.” Presently, five Spins have been released. Fedora 15 was recently released and I decided to snag a copy to review. Since there are a billion reviews already of the default desktop version with GNOME 3, I'll be covering the KDE version in this review (though I may circle back to the GNOME version at some point for a review). As I noted in my column "The Many Faces of Fedora," there are quite a lot of Fedora spins now available.

Specialized Spins for Security, Scientific-KDE, Design-suite, SoaS, Games, Electronic-lab and Robotics were also [...]

I currently have the Fedora 17 game spin installed on my laptop and am trying to add the design and scientific spin to it.
Hi all,

Fedora 15 LXDE is a Fedora 15 Spin, an alternate edition of Fedora, “tailored for various types of users via hand-picked application sets and other customizations.” Presently, seven Spins have been released. These are, in order of popularity about the time I hit the Publish button, the KDE, LXDE, Xfce, Security, Games, Electronic-Lab, and Design-Suite [...]
Hi,
I am a newbie to Linux operating systems other than having used a derivative of it on my cellphone for the past year or so.
Why does Fedora call their default distribution "Desktop" instead of "GNOME".
