http://askubuntu.com – I did a fresh installation of XP SP3 on an IBM ThinkPad T40, 512 MB of RAM, Pentium M 1.5 GHz processor. I ran the wubi executable for 12.10 and let it download and unpack the image. When it said I needed to reboot the computer to complete the installation, I let Wubi restart it. During the reboot, it never came up to the boot menu and just booted into windows. When I check the Startup Options in System Properties and choose the option to edit the Boot.ini from there, I found this: [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fa (HowTos)

I would like to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my computer from Windows using Wubi, but I have a problem with it. Firstly I mount a CD image in a virtual drive via Daemon tool. Next I start Wubi, fill all installation fields, and then I click next. Then Wubi starts to extract files, etc.

I have a computer with 2 operating systems dual booted: One is Windows 7 and the other is Ubuntu. My Ubuntu installation is installed within the Windows partition via wubi.exe.

I'm not using grubby, but windows 7's default bootloader.

I've tried VMs and now Wubi, and whenever i use a VM to install, i get "must run in low graphics mode" with a black screen or it freezes afterward.

When I install on my real machine through wubi, I reboot into Ubuntu, and I get the following:

today I used the Windows-based Ubuntu Installer (Wubi) as per Ubuntu Documentation.

I get as far as Completing the Ubuntu Setup Wizard and Reboot Now. But after rebooting I don't get the Windows Boot Manager to finish the installation. I always get back to Windows XP which operates as if nothing had happened.

An year and a half ago, I installed Ubuntu on my computer using Wubi. After a while I decided to install Ubuntu on a separate partition. So I uninstalled the Ubuntu using Wubi, and installed Ubuntu on a separate partition by booting from the Ubuntu ISO.

Though Wubi uninstalled Ubuntu from my Windows partition it did not remove the option in the boot menu.

Having installed Ubuntu 10.04.1 by wubi from XP I cant boot to start Ubuntu. The install app let me 2 options in windows loader. 1.- Windows Xp Professional. and 2.- Ubuntu. If I acces the frist option I get access to Windows Xp correctly but if select 2.

It seems that after I ran WUBI in Windows 8 that everything was correctly installed. The problem I have is when I re-boot, Windows loads some sort of boot manager that asks me what OS I want to boot from. When I select UBUNTU, I'm getting error messages. Here is what my screen says: Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software issue is the cause.

When I first got my computer I made a disk image of the windows partition using a ubuntu disk to do a live boot without installing (and then just installed partimage with apt-get). Unfortunately, I am no longer able to boot with my CDROM drive, so I am wondering if it would be possible to install Wubi and then have it restore the windows image?

i have tried several times to install ubuntu using wubi, i can't use a disc as i have a notebook computer and there is no optical drive.

the download and installation all seem to work well but whenever i try to boot ubuntu at the windows 7/ubuntu menu it comes up with this error screen.

I have used both the C: drive and the D: drive to install Ubuntu several times each, it's always unsuccessful.
