I have got Lenovo Thinkpad w540 and running Mint 16. When I dock the laptop into the docking station, everything freezes. I have to undock and wait until the login window is loaded. How should I go along about finding out what is wrong?
What I found out so far was the following. I ran the xrandr command before and after docking and there are differences.

When I put my laptop in to the docking station, the screen goes black then my screen saver comes up. At this point, its like the computer is 'locked'. I can't type anything, the webpage I was on is not there, icons are gone. When I pop it out of the docking station, it reverts back to where ever I was before putting it in the station.
