Do Ubuntu certified laptops hardware work out-of-the-box?

http://ubuntuforums.org – I saw these laptops at the Ubuntu website. http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/...ategory=Laptop It says here that these laptops are certified by Ubuntu. It says that these laptops are certified. Particularly I am looking at the laptops with hybrid graphics, but how sure am I that these laptops will run well under Ubuntu? Is the driver pre-installed? If not, how can I get the drivers to ensure that these laptops will run well under Ubuntu. Because my currrent computer doesn't run well at all with 3D graphics. Will all the drivers be working out-of-the-box? Or will they be available throu (Hardware)

Decided to start a thread to list some of the laptops that have nvidia optimus in them and get it to run with Ubuntu (or other variants) with Bumblebee or Ironhide or other solutions that exist out there.

Basically I'm curious about the Ubuntu laptop users' answers to the following questions:

1) What kind of laptops do you use and with what NVIDIA video card?

i've got 2 samsung laptops (Samsung NP550P5C-S01IN & Samsung NP350V5C-S06IN)

i've read it recntly that BOOTiNG linux in samsung laptops bricked them permanently (http://m.tech2.com/news/software/booting-linux-bricks-some-samsung-windo...)

i wish to install Ubuntu on both of these but i want to know if i can install ubuntu in any one of them without bricking them permanently.

I am considering buying one of the laptops Dell is offering for sale with Ubuntu pre installed.

I currently use Ubuntu on a Macbook Pro that belongs to my work, which will have to go back to my work soon as I am changing jobs!

Since many programs that I need only work on XP, I need to install Windows XP on my 2 laptops but I can't use an optical drive, which makes using a USB the only option.

If it helps, I can tell you that I used to have Vista and Windows 7 on my 2 laptops but I clean installed Ubuntu 12.04 on one, and Lubuntu on the other.

I am looking for a good method to automatically clone directories from laptops that is currently connected to the local network to a server on the same local network at a regular interval in a small office environment.

The server runs Ubuntu and the laptops runs various GNU/Linux distros or OSX.

I bought a Dell XPS 15 (l502x) and i always have some problems with drivers and such. And every Dell that i have tried i have problems with Graphics card and such. Hybrid Laptops and Ubuntu. 30 weeks 4 days ago

With the coming of Windows 8 Hybrid Laptops, it would be nice to see Ubuntu running on them. I like the idea of being able to use a keyboard or a touch screen (laptop or tablet, either or).

People started reporting a few days back that trying to boot Ubuntu 12.04 or Ubuntu 12.10 on a few selected Samsung laptops would essentially brick them due to a conflict with UEFI boot.

The laptops affected so far are NP300E5C, NP530U3C, NP700Z3C, NP700Z5C, NP700Z7C and NP900X4C from Samsung.
