I have a Sony Vaio laptop running F17/KDE4.9, with Intel Mobile GM965/GL960 graphics. Laptop display resolution is 1280x800. I connect a new ACER 1920x1080 external monitor via VGA cable (no other socket on laptop) hoping to have the option of using it at native resolution but am only offered 1280x800. How can I get the correct resolution offered in the Display Settings GUI?
I have a macbook air with intel graphics, yesterday I disabled the laptop screen while I used an external screen and today whenever I plug it in the laptop screen goes off and the external monitor does not come on.
Using 64-bit Ubuntu 11.10 and integrated (Intel) graphics, I can run the 1600x900 laptop display plus a 1600x1200 external monitor connected to the VGA adapter.
Hi folks
I am using the Fedora 17 GNOME spin, installed from Live DVD.
I have a Lenovo T430 laptop with Intel HD Graphics 4000 connected to a dock with 2 external displays.
If I boot with no external displays, it boots fine with the laptop display as the primary display.
If I boot with only 1 external display, it boots fine with the laptop display as the primary display, and the external
I was just playing with hardware on Ubuntu the other day, just by adding a second monitor (acer) to my laptop (dell vostro 1000). All went fine, some display settings worked out, other didn't (laptop could only handle the 1280x720 60hz setting, the acer screen could handle other screen resolutions and refreshrates).
#! 32-bit r201102 updated running on an Acer Aspire 4710 with Intel Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller. Attached a 20" external monitor to the VGA and booted up. Uses grandr to disable laptop panel and enable external screen on Auto settings (1600x900 at 60Hz). The screen is now showing an occassional, but very distracting, flicker. Any ideas?
So, I start Ubuntu on my laptop, then I plug in my external monitor and I go to preferences and click on display to change the screen from laptop io the external one, just as I click on display, the laptop screen goes dark, only I see the mouse pointer, and nothing on the external screen.
If I turn on the computer with the external display plugged in, everything works fine.
hey. I recently took the (broken) screen off my laptop. I'm temporary using a tv but I rarely use that laptop around. It currently has Ubuntu 10.10 and no other OS. Would it be possible for me to make my external display default on the boot itself?
I went to the Settingsmanager and selected Display. The external display was listed there. So I selected Use this output (see Screenshot) and after hitting apply the notebook screen was cloned to the external display.
But what I wanted was for it to be expanded, not cloned.
Unfortunately I cannot find any option for that.
Is there such an option?
Greatful for any hints!
