Hello.
I recently updated my operating system, & now I'm having an issue with the display. I have a Dell Inspiron Mini.
I recently installed ubuntu 9.10 on an ibm desktop, The bottom half of the monitor is black and the desktop can not be seen. I read on a forum that the display should be set to vesa in xorg.conf, I have searched and can not find it.
Hi Guys!
I Have a little Asus T91MT running Ubuntu 12.04 and it has a screen error that makes the screen half itself but when i log out it is all normal and fine the whole screen is being used but when i log in it freezes the bottom half and the top half is trying to fit the whole screen into it but is very pixely if you know what i mean and just very hard to use.
i have re-installed it a fe
I can't get ConsoleKit working with Slim (or XDM) and fluxbox.
After installing a base command line install of Ubuntu 10.04, I installed slim and xfce which worked fine for the first 2 or 3 reboots. However, now when I start up, it gets to the slim login screen, I enter in my username and press enter, then I just get a black screen with a couple of random looking characters at the top left of the screen.
Why might this have started to happen?
I' m installing Arch with OpenBox, I' ve done everything but when I type
openbox-session
I have this error
Failed to open the display from the DISPLAY environment variable.
What's the problem?
I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my PC alongside Windows 7 option. All seemed to be working fine ; I installed Chrome and Filezilla, installed updates which had downloaded during the install, rebooted, and i get the usual boot options (Launch Ubuntu, Ubuntu with Linux, memory test, and boot Windows 7 on SDB1).
I installed conky on my 12.04 xubuntu machine, and every time the display ticks, the new information will write over the old. So say chromium is the top cpu hog, and in the next update pidgin is. The word pidgin appears layered on top of the word chromium. Any idea what might cause this?
This only happens when the area is transparent.
Hello,
I've recently installed Ubuntu 11.10 32bit on my laptop. I use a 2nd monitor connected to my laptop and after installing & updating Ubuntu for the first time, I went to display settings to set the monitor as the main display and deactivated the laptop screen display.
