https://bbs.archlinux.org – Hello,I have a problem which seems to be rather strange for Linux laptop problems - I can only get to the desktop through X11 after closing the lid, letting the laptop suspend, and opening the lid again to resume. Before this point, everything through the console works and I can switch to a TTY, but after KDM is started (via systemd) a blank screen appears. This laptop (an HP DV6) has dual cards which cannot be selected between in the BIOS - both AMD, integrated is the HD4200 and dedicated is the HD5650. I am using catalyst from the community repo - I have tried the PowerXpress and normal buil (HowTos)

12.04, not an upgrade from previous versions, Intel Integrated HD graphics. System updates done daily.

The dual monitor capability sort of works, but there are some problems ...

- It only works at all as an extended desktop. I would like to be able to switch from laptop display to external display with the desktop the same in both.

Running 9.10 on a dell inspiron e1705. It has an ati x1400 and I am using the built in radeon driver. Laptop suspends and resumes almost flawlessly (screen is dim on resume, but keyboard hotkey works to increase it).

It's more a hardware problem than an Ubuntu problem, I think, but maybe there is a workaround.

I'm using a HP DV7-1145ef laptop with a HDMI output. I'm also using an external display (HP 2275W) with a DVI input. Both are linked with a HDMI/DVI cable.

I've tried ubuntu, kubuntu, fedora and linux mint. all 64 bit versions.

I've also tried to suspend through applications like acpitool. But nothing works. When I click on Suspend, the screen goes blank but the computer is still running. The wireless network adaptor gets disabled for a second and then comes back on. All I have to do is press a key and I get the unlock screen prompt.

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my MacBook Pro 8, 1 when it was released. It has been working well overall, but I have a problem when it comes to suspend and resume operations.

When instructed to (by the closing of the lid etc.), the laptop suspends most of the time.

I've got a Thinkpad T400 with Gentoo Linux installed. Suspend-to-RAM works like a charm.

However, Susped-to-Disk doesn't work: if I suspend, the Laptop powers down and accesses the HD for around 30s.

I have a suspend problem with my t61. I can suspend only once. After that one suspend, when I press Fn+F4 eg. suspend to ram again screen goes blank, hdd spins down, then after a few seconds hdd spins up again, but screen remains black. Nothing else helps than forced reboot. Then I have one suspend left again :) Since I don't use my laptop very often, I can't really tell when it started.

I have a compaq presario v2405us (which is a v2000z with a sempron cpu).
