I originally posted this here, but have reposted it here as suggested by omns:Does anyone have any experience reinstalling with encrypted /home and swap? I have / on one partition, encrypted /home on another, and encrypted swap on a third, running updated Waldorf 20120430.
I recently bought a Dell XPS 14 which has a 32 GB SSD partition in addition to the 500GB HDD.
Hi folks, has anyone experience with sharing a password encrypted partition between Linux and Win7? The Linux part is no problem (of course :D), but can anyone point me to some hints regarding the access of an encrypted partition using Win7? Is there any possibility to do this with e.g. TrueCrypt or maybe LUKS?
Hi all,
I think the title says it all: I accidentally removed my encrypted swap partition using gparted (well, not entirely accidentally :-\". I thought it was corrupted and wanted to recreate it, but realized too late that it was actually fine but just looked different because it was encrypted..). Does anyone know what the proper way of recreating it is (Ubuntu 11.10)?
I've got SIFT (based on Ubuntu 9.10) installed on a work laptop. We're trying to encrypt the entire installation (root partition and swap), which is apparently doable using LUKS, but I'm having some trouble getting it all to work.
Here's where I'm at so far:
I have an unencrypted /boot partition, one unencrypted root partition, and one encrypted partition.
So I ran update manager (on 12.10),
and it needs my boot partition to be a bit bigger (5 or 6 mb)... However my main partition is an LVM encrypted volume..
Does anyone have any ideas how to resize the LVM volume and increase the boot partition?
I found a few posts on it, but most are either super complex, from a few years ago, or both..
Regards
Andy
Hi,
I'd like to migrate my current F16 install to an encrypted rootfs.
(I want to avoid a time consuming fresh install followed by a reconfiguration)
Assuming I have a spare disk to play with :) is there a how-to move an installation from a non-encrypted disk/partition to an encrypted disk/partition ?
(in a future upgrade safe mode, i.e.
I have 4 partitions.
- Windows 7 installing partition
- Windows 7 encrypted by truecrypt
- Data encrypted by truecrypt
- Yet another partition
Whether there can be a problem with 2nd and 3d partitions and Windows 7 booting if I install Ubuntu?
I encrypted a 200GB partition of HDD in Windows 7 using BitLocker. I removed Windows 7 from the PC and installed Ubuntu. Now I can't see the partition which was encrypted from Ubuntu.
Question: Is there any way to access or decrypt this partition in Ubuntu?
By the way, I know the key which is used in encryption.
