I recently abandoned gnome and switched to a minimal openbox setup without any desktop environment. However, of the function keys on my laptop (ThinkPad), only the brightness keys are now responsive (they all worked properly in my previous desktop environment -- gnome 3 fallback). How can I restore function to the other Fn keys (volume, display device, etc)?
My Toshiba C800 laptop (12.04lts desktop) has special function keys as follows:
F5-TOUCH PAD on/off
F6 to F11 (media player keys) work correctly, but the keys from F2 to F5 and F12 are not working.
Why would some function keys work, but not others?
for some reason, my display is set to 0 in the settings editor on everything. yet it looks perfectly fine when you boot it up into the desktop area of it.
I am using xfce 32 bit. (fedora obviously xD) thinkpad it is t430.
but yea I cannot see the refresh rate and I do not know what it is supposed to be lol. so could someone please tell me what I should do?
I aways had problems with nvidia brightness control, and since 2009 I use the nvidiabl. But there is a issue that brightness sometimes came back to full backlight.
So, since the nvidia is with new driver release I'm trying others options and the xbacklight worked very well.
But I cant change it with the function keys (nvidiabl can).
Wasn't sure where to put this, hopefully this section will do:
I see the question regarding brightness on Toshibas asked a lot, and I personally managed to fix it by adding the acpi_backlight=vendor line to my grub boot options and I can now adjust the brightness via the Settings -> Brightness menu. However, my function keys still do not work properly.
