on my network its already exist a router that do dhcp, boot in this network i need to boot a diskless system that use pxe to boot from network, while the pxe server is using dnsmasq to serve O/S, but currently this dnsmasq act as dhcp server too, so there are multiple dhcp server on the same network
how to run pxe server without act as dhcp server by using dnsmasq ?
Making server for school. ISP is PPPoe. internet-modem/router-server-WAN(eth0)-LAN(eth2)-switch-clients. eth0 is dhcp. eth2 is static 10.10.0.1 255.255.255.0.
I am attemting to use dnsmasq to create dns caching and dhcp on LAN.
I commented out dns-dnsmasq in NM, downloaded and installed dnsmasq, and configured dnsmasq.conf, but no caching and no dhcp.
I have some machines on a network. This network has a DHCP server - (Edit:) which I have no control over, and no DNS server, i.e. the DHCP lease refer you to some ISP's server and do not serve IPs for local machine names. I plan to install a dnsmasq to address this issue. However, the machine I'll install the dnsmasq on itself gets its IP via DHCP.
